Tau Beta Sigma District Programs
TBΣ Convention Button Trade Off
The District Council invites each chapter to participate in a project that started at the 2022 district convention.
Each chapter is to design/create buttons to have members of their chapter bring to trade with members from other chapters. The concept behind this initiative is to encourage members to seek out and meet members from other chapters. When you meet somebody from a different chapter, you introduce yourselves then trade your chapter's buttons with each other! The goal with trading would be to collect buttons from all the chapters at convention. In theory if a person has a button from every chapter, they have met at least one person from every chapter. This helps possibly spark new friendships across the southwest.
For your chapter to participate, this is what you will need to do:
- Design a Button! You can use your chapter logo or create a fun design using apps like canva.
- Order Enough Buttons. There are 33 chapters in the southwest district, so I would suggest purchasing about 40-50 buttons for each member to try to trade with each chapter. I recommend using www.stickermule.com/ as they tend to make good quality items, but feel free to use whomever.
- Come to District! Meet people at district convention to trade! It can be that simple!
The district council members will also be participating! Each officer/counselor will have about 100 pins to trade with members until they run out. This is an opportunity to meet and chat with your current district officers!
This is something exciting and can be a fun social activity while at #SWDCON25! If anybody has any questions or feedback, please let Kamryn Knafelz know at swdsectreas@tbsigma.org! See everyone in Oklahoma this March!
TBΣ Photo Challenge
All chapters are encouraged to participate in the SWD photo challenge! Chapter photos from each month will be posted on the district social medias as they are received each month! Please submit your submissions to swdvpsp@tbsigma.org!
- August - “Back to Business”
- Chapters can take a photo of sisters and brothers in the first meeting or event of the year!
- September - “Sisterhood September”
- Chapters can take photos of their chapter during sisterhood events, maybe a game night, movie night, or any activity that helps the chapter bond.
- October - “Spooky Sisters”
- Chapters can take photos of sisters around anything that involves Halloween. Maybe it's a Halloween membership recruitment activity, or maybe a pumpkin carving event! (As long as it’s spooky, let's see it!)
- November - “Thankful for Tau Beta Sigma”
- Take a photo with your sisters at any Tau Beta Sigma event, service event, or anything that makes you feel thankful for our organization!
- December - “Winter Wonderland”
- Take a photo with sisters building a snowman or snowwoman with snow. If chapters are in an area where there is no snow they can get creative! Use any objects you would like! And, let's put a musical twist on it! (make your snowman or snowwoman a conductor, a musician, etc!)
- January - "Spring semester with the Sisters"
- Take a photo with your sisters at the beginning of the spring semester.
- February - "MLITB Month"
- Take a photo with your sisters exchanging valentines or letters of appreciation with each other.
- March - "Lucky to be with Wava"
- Since March is our founding date, chapters can take photos celebrating Tau Beta Sigma and our founder Wava!
- April - "Spicy Southwest Sisters"
- It is district convention season! Members can submit photos of themselves during the Southwest District Convention!
- May - "Summer Send off"
- Chapters are encouraged to take photos of their last meeting, last event of the semester, or an end of year celebration.
TBΣ Pen Pal Program
The Southwest District of Tau Beta Sigma is proud to announce the re-instatement of the District Pen Pal Program!
All chapters are encouraged to send different correspondences to chapters within the district. This can be letters, postcards, or even care packages. This is a great way for sisters and brothers to check on each other throughout the academic year. Send a picture of your correspondences to swdvpsp@tbsigma.org!
